Can you set overlapping schedules?

No - we do not allow for overlapping schedules.

You can instead use separate intervals. As an example assume your Child is in school from 8-16 on a daily basis but that he/she has play time from 12-13. In this case Set two schedules. School schedule for the first with a two intervals: 8-12 and 13-16. This would allow a free period from 12 - 13.
